Terms
JusticeSA terms of use
These terms explain the current operating structure of JusticeSA and the basis on which the website, research, campaigns and supporter features are provided.
1. Who operates JusticeSA?
JusticeSA is currently a trading name used by the owner of JusticeSA and is operated as a sole proprietorship. JusticeSA is therefore not presently a separate company, non-profit company (NPC), public benefit organisation (PBO), or section 18A-approved organisation.
The sole proprietor is responsible for the present operation of the website and for commitments entered into in connection with JusticeSA.
2. Research, commentary and campaigns
JusticeSA publishes research, estimates, commentary and public-interest campaign material. Modelled estimates are intended to be identified as estimates and should be read together with their methodology, assumptions, limitations and source material.
The site invites correction where facts or calculations can be shown to be wrong. Nothing on JusticeSA is personal legal, tax, financial or investment advice.
3. Petition signatures and member accounts
Petition and account features are provided to allow people to support campaigns, receive optional updates and manage their JusticeSA account. Users should provide accurate information and must not use these features to impersonate another person, automate abusive submissions or interfere with the website.
How personal information is handled is explained in the Privacy Policy.
4. Financial support
Financial contributions are voluntary support for JusticeSA's research, hosting, publication, translation, campaign and related operating costs. A contribution does not buy shares, ownership, voting rights, a particular conclusion or editorial control.
JusticeSA is not presently represented as a section 18A-approved organisation and does not promise that contributions are tax-deductible. A different tax treatment will not be claimed unless and until the relevant approval exists and the site has been updated accordingly.
A JusticeSA contribution receipt confirms only a payment recorded as paid. It is not a section 18A tax certificate. Payment processing may be provided by an external checkout provider; JusticeSA does not require supporters to enter card numbers, bank passwords, PINs or OTPs into the JusticeSA support form.
5. Copyright, sharing and third-party material
JusticeSA's original site content remains protected by applicable copyright law. Public campaign material may be linked to and shared for lawful discussion, criticism and reporting, provided it is not misleadingly altered or presented as an endorsement JusticeSA did not give.
Third-party reports, legislation, publications and websites remain subject to their own rights and terms. A link does not imply endorsement.
6. Availability and corrections
JusticeSA may correct, update, reorganise or withdraw material as new evidence becomes available. The website is provided on a reasonable-efforts basis and uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed.
7. If JusticeSA grows or changes structure
JusticeSA may later move from a sole proprietorship to a separate legal entity, for example a private company or an appropriate non-profit structure. A sole proprietorship is not itself a separate legal entity, so such a change would normally involve establishing the new entity and transferring the relevant JusticeSA operations, assets, contracts and responsibilities to it where appropriate.
If that happens, these terms, the privacy policy and the public legal-status notice will be updated to identify the new operator. Personal information will only be transferred or otherwise processed in accordance with applicable law.
8. Contact and applicable law
JusticeSA is operated from South Africa and these terms are intended to be read under South African law.
